*Flower Child* The newest creation by Sam Fox

Last Friday I had the pleasure of having lunch at Flower Child in Phoenix, the latest creation by Sam Fox.  You’ve have likely visited one of Fox Restaurant Concepts delish restaurants before and didn’t know it.  Culinary Dropout, Greene House and North happen to be my favorites and now I can add Flower Child to my list!

No you don’t have to be a hippie or say things like “peace out man,” or “far-out” to enjoy your experience at Flower Child.  In fact their space is the perfect combination of sleek marble counter tops, concrete floors and wicker/metal industrial tub chairs.  Groovy!

On to the food, currently since this is THE place at the intersection at 44th and Camelback the line is out the door.  But have no fear!  The sweet hostess will offer you some watermelon lemonade while you wait in the fast moving line.  Flower Child is fast-casual (think wait in line for food/get a number/go to your table/bring you your food).  I should also mention that this concept is the “cousin” to True Food Kitchen.  Featuring items such as grass-fed beef, organic turkey, wild caught salmon and produce that is locally sourced and all natural you can feel like a beacon of health simply by walking in the building.  There is something on the menu  for everyone!

I ordered the Flying Avocado: a flavorful combination of thinly sliced grilled chicken, smoked gouda, romaine, tomato, avocado hummus all neatly wrapped in a homemade whole wheat, flax & chia seed wrap served with a mixed green salad.  Hello!  So good.  I’m big on green tea and their Japanese Mango Sencha Green Tea was the perfect pairing.

My lunch date had the Quinoa salad-a colorful mixture of asparagus, broccoli, snap peas, sweet corn, manchego, pistachio with a chia seed vinaigrette topped with grass-fed steak.  He loved it.  He also enjoyed the pear & pommegranete lemonade which I also tried and loved.

Realizing we didn’t want to miss out on their amazing looking desserts we headed back to the line and ordered the gluten free chocolate cake topped with almonds and their gluten free lemon olive oil cake.  Unfortunately I am allergic to nuts so I couldn’t try the chocolate cake but he said it was and I quote “damn tasty” and the lemon olive oil cake was light, fluffy and the perfect amount of lemon.  LOVED!!!

Your average lunch bill will run you $13-$14 and for dinner about $17.  Keep in mind this is Arcadia area my East Valley friends!  The also have beer and wine PLUS Kombucha on tap and anyone that knows me knows I love my Kombucha!  Lastly, the have a great variety on their kids menu that is worth checking out.

So out of 5 stars I’m giving Flower Child a solid 4.  I do feel like it is a little pricey however, good tasting and good for you food costs more!  Flower Child I will be back!

A big thank you to Adam the manager for being so gracious and to Stacy at the Up Agency for inviting me!

PEACE OUT MAN!!

*All opinions are my own, no financial compensation was given for my review however, I was given lunch on the house*
