Taking a picture with a two year old is always fun.

Now that summer is here it’s getting more and more difficult to spend time outside. There are plenty of things to do inside, but sometimes it’s easier to just get out. Arizona is beautiful and there are so many different places to explore that aren’t too far away. The Apache Trail is a great example. The Apache Trail is a scenic drive through the superstition mountains east of Mesa. Have you been to the Apache Trail yet? If not, here are some reasons why you should consider it.

  • The views. With plenty of look outs and places to stretch your legs, it’s worth the drive to see the beauty that Arizona has to offer. Between the mountains, the lakes, and the cacti, it’s like a perfect mix of all things Arizona.
  • The location. Once you get to Apache Junction, you’re pretty much already there. You can go as far as you like once you start, but you don’t want to miss out on the dirt road that takes you to Apache Lake. But then again maybe you do if you have back seat passengers who get car sick. We made it all the way up to Roosevelt Lake and headed back home on the 60 through Superior. It was about a two hour drive home on the highway so this trip definitely takes some time.
  • Somewhere new to go. Now that school’s just about over it might be nice to have somewhere to go. When we went we packed a picnic and ate it at one of the turn outs and that just made it more fun.
  • Let’s be honest, you might just need to get out of the house. No one will judge you if you give the kids their games, phones, or turn on a movie in the car if you can. You might just need to get out of the house so you don’t have to hear “I’m bored” over and over again.

So have you been to the Apache Trail? Any advice? Any other day trips that you enjoy?
