As important as conditioning your heart, building muscle and burning calories are, it’s also important to spend time on your recovery. Yoga is great for recovery and offers tremendous health and wellness benefits for everyone. Below are reasons why you should make time for yoga in addition to your current workouts:

  1. Yoga enhances recovery. Most intense activities generate lactic acid in muscle tissue. If lactic acid isn’t removed properly, it can affect future performance. Yoga can help with the removal of lactic acid by increasing circulation and allowing the lactic acid to exit the muscle tissue and into the blood stream where it can make its way to the liver for processing.

  4. Yoga improves body awareness and focus. Controlling your breathing is an important part of yoga. Breath signifies your vital energy. Yoga teaches that controlling your breathing can help you control your body, quiet your mind and help reduce stress and anxiety.
