I’m a runner. I no longer say “I’m trying to be a runner.” because I’ve come to grips with the fact that I actually do enjoy running. It’s something I can do alone or if you are social and like to eat delicious food like me-you can join a really fun new running club called bRUNch running!
Well Lisa, what is bRUNch? If you ask me-a totally amazing way to spend your Sunday morning: exercising, followed by eating and chatting it up with other fun local runners!
From the bRUNch running website, co-founders Alexandra Weissner and Cortney Logan describe bRUNch:
“When people ask why we run, we simply tell them this, “We run to have fun, mimosas and French toast.”
bRUNch is a social group that loves to run and eat brunch. Each Sunday the group meets for a training run at a local restaurant. We offer both five-kilometer and ten-kilometer runs each week. The fun continues back at the restaurant with the ultimate brunching experience and post-run chatting.
Food for Fuel The mission of bRUNch is to promote a healthy active lifestyle, one in which physical fitness and food both play a vital role.“
Another great part about bRUNch is that there is no membership fee! The ticket you purchase for your run covers the cost of your food AND bRUNch believes in giving back to our communities so a portion of the ticket for weekly bRUNch supports a local charity. The Phoenix club supports the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Phoenix.
Alex and Cortney started bRUNch running in Colorado where they reside and on January 5th, 2014 bRUNch Phoenix held their first run at NoRth in Arcadia. The Phoenix club is hosted by Lindsey Watson and Shayne Neuwirth. Not only do they take care of all the ticket sales and getting guests checked in but they actually also do the runs too!

This running season I had the pleasure of attending two runs with the first being at Four Peaks in North Scottsdale and my second bRUNch at Bliss reBAR .
(unattractive photo of me running, ready to pass out from the heat)
Four Peaks had a big crowd and a lot of fun people attended like this guy:
He doesn’t think running isn’t fun!
Just look at all these happy faces! I’m not sure if it was the Runners high or mimosas-either way they are all smiles!
And a few fun photos from Bliss reBAR
Yummy food and drinks! Yes, you can have pretzel roll French toast after running or walking 3-6 miles!

Sadly, I wish I would have started going to the runs sooner because they only have two runs left! April 5th will be in the East Valley at San Tan Brewery. April 13th will be the last run of the season before it starts up again in September! To sign up for one of these events please visit the bRUNch running website. Be sure to follow the bRUNch running Phoenix Facebook page as well as their main bRUNch running Facebook page.
Cheers to a healthy lifestyle!
Run. Eat. Drink.
Have fun.
