National safety month: Texting and Driving Challenge

0

The month of June is the start of summer, swimming, vacations, ice cold lemonade, sonic runs, the works! June is also National Safety Month. So, let’s talk about crotch watching.

It’s actually something that many of us do or have seen. With more people on the road during the summer its even more important to be a safe driver and I’ve found that a great way to remember something is to add a little humor.

If you drive, and have a cell phone, chances are, you are a crotch watcher. He’re a little blurb from a post i did on this subject a few months back on my blog to explain what i mean.

You’re driving along and your phone lights up, you know not to look while driving, but you just take a peek, just to see. Pray there is a red light so you can stop and check the notification on your phone, what was it?! text, facebook, instagram, did someone finally tweet me?!

You are anticipating the red light, you are already ever so slightly reaching for your phone. Finally, red light! You grab your phone super psyched and then look down at it and smile. Me in the car next to you, all i can tell is that you are smiling at your crotchel region and pray you are actually looking at your phone and not in fact smiling at your crotch. My favorite it as at night when they have a glowing crotch. hahahaha!!

Sound familiar? yes? no?

Well, I gave myself the task of not looking at my phone while at a stop light. When i first started it was hard! I wanted to look at my phone soooooo bad! I didn’t even realize how programmed i was and I could not stop thinking about my phone. As time has gone by it’s so much easier and not constantly on my mind while driving now

Why would this even be something to worry about? I’m stopped. No harm, no foul.  I’m not looking at my phone while driving, but a distraction is a distraction.  Your reaction time is slowed and that effects everyone around you.

Its refreshing not thinking about my phone at all while driving.  Yes, i miss a few calls, texts and such but i don’t worry about it. I am more aware and focused.  One of the most important thing in my life is my children, and i need to be at the top of my game, especially when on the road.

My slogan is: “Don’t watch your crotch, watch the road!” 🙂

Moral of the story: If you are on the road, please, please, PLEASE, do not look at your phone.  Protect your life, your passengers and everyone around you, be safe, be smart, & don’t be a crotch watcher.

I challenge you to go just one day with out being a crotch watcher.  Trust me on this, the struggle is real y’all!

Have a wonderful & safe summer!
