As a mom, I feel like I am constantly trying to multi-task. Finding time to do something like sit down and read an article or a few chapters in a book (and do it without re-reading the same paragraph 3 times because I was interrupted) is really hard to come by. But then I figured out that’s where podcasts fit in – they are perfect for moms!
I’m one of those people who loves listening to music, so naturally I resisted podcasts for a long time – I felt like they weren’t “for me”. As time went on I realized I missed the some of the enrichment and knowledge I got from reading articles and blogs in my pre-mom life. Podcasts are a great way to get a little of that mind stimulation while doing things you just have to get done (and other times too!).
I started off listening while taking my kids for walks around the neighborhood in the stroller each afternoon. That soon bled into listening when I was folding laundry, doing dishes, cleaning the house – all things I was checking off on my to-do list but now added a little enjoyment to. And they are perfect to listen to on road trips or long commutes!
Some of you may be wondering where to begin when it comes to podcasts (or maybe you just love discovering new ones, like me!). They come in every topic, length and genre so there is something out there for everyone. All of our links take you directly to the shows website – most of these shows (if not all) allow you to play episodes directly from their site. How easy is that?!
If you’re on the go, you can also use apps on your phone to listen. Depending on the kind of phone you have, there are apps that are probably already on your phone right now:
