It can be over whelming to pack a hospital bag especially if this is your first time giving birth. I have seen some lists that are just full of things to bring, it kinda shocks me on the amount of stuff people bring with them. If you are going the hospital route for the birth of your baby there a quite a few things you don’t need to worry about packing for your baby while you’re there, because they will provide it for you.
I tend to pack on the lighters side. I start packing around 34-36 weeks, so I don’t feel like I’m scrambling last minute. There are more things I can spend my time doing than worrying about a hospital bag. Here is my very basic check list of things I like to pack for the hospital. Adjust for how long you’ll be in the hospital. If you’re scheduled for a c-section you’ll want to bring a couple more changes of clothes, for you and baby. This check list is based on a 24-48 hour hospital stay. Download a printable pdf >>Hospital Bag Checklist<<
I usually send my husband home to sleep and shower so the things we bring for him are few and simple, he’s basically the snack and electronic guy during labor and recovery. 🙂 Since we live a little farther away from the hospital this time around we are looking into just getting him a room at the hotel across the street.
If you are wondering what kind of things the hospital provides here is a list of everything I can remember from my past stays. It does change from time to time or by hospital so check with your hospital.
With all said and done remember this is your special day so bring what will make you happy and comfortable. Simple makes me happy. I hope you’ve found this helpful in getting ready for your bundle of joy to arrive!
Happy packing!
