Holiday approved hot cocoa bar

My kids and I absolutely this time of year!  Decorating the house for the holidays, the pretty twinkling lights, for me-NOT decorating gingerbread houses….

One thing we have done in the past few years is set up a hot cocoa bar on our kitchen counter.  I wanted to make it a little more accessible for them (plus I really wanted to buy this bar cart from Target) so I set it up in our dining room for them to enjoy all season long!

All of the items I used at our hot cocoa bar were found at Target. I mean, I know us moms simply LOVE Target and they always have the cutest holiday and everyday décor!  Many of the items I used are from the dollar section.  It is by far my favorite section of the store.

My kids are little bit older so having these items out makes it a little bit easier, obviously not a good idea if you have babies or toddlers around!

The options for hot cocoa seems to be endless.

Our favorites include:

*candy canes

*different types of marshmallows

*M&M’s or chocolate chips

*Redi Whip  (this is a must in our house)

*cookies to go with your hot cocoa!  We love the gingerbread cookies and peppermint joe joe’s from Trader Joes!

Other items to complete your hot cocoa bar would include:

*storage jars

*cute mugs

*fun plates

*hot cocoa-if the ready mix kind isn’t your thing, check out this DIY Hot Chocolate Mix!  It also makes a fun gift for friends during the holidays!

*fun décor

If you want to really spice things up, I would suggest adding some adult options like Bailey’s, Peppermint Schnapps, Tequila or Kahlua! For some inspo check out this article from Paste Magazine.
