This Chandler park with train and carousel rides hosts birthday party for kids ages 2-10. The Engineer birthday package includes ride bands for nine children and two adults, ice cream, balloons, printable invitations and a party host. This fortress-like building in downtown Phoenix offers hours of fun and discovery for kids. The science center’s birthday-party packages include free admission for 20-30 guests, a decorated party room and light refreshments or pizza. Kids also get to do a hands-on activity such as making slimy oobleck or bottle rockets or learning about liquid nitrogen and how it can be used to make ice cream (yes, a tasting follows). After the party, guests can visit the Dorrance Planetarium or IMAX theater shows for $2-$3.

This Gilbert family fitness center and yoga studio offers weekend Zumba Glow, sports and yoga-themed birthday parties for ages 2 and up. The “Yoga Studio” package (recommended for ages 7 and up) includes yoga instruction, aromatherapy with hand and foot massages and makeup application, nail polishing or henna tattoos. Glow-in-the-dark Zumba (for ages 3 and up) offers dancing, games, pop music, glow bracelets and necklaces, and flashy blinky rings. This hands-on kids museum features the Schuff-Perini Climber, a multistory play structure, and is aimed at kids 10 or younger. Children can ride tricycles through a waterless car wash; build forts, play in a pint-size supermarket and run through Noodle Forest. Party packages for 15-20 children include invitations, a “Party Pal” and private party room with time to explore the museum. For a real splurge, parents can rent out the entire museum for a private event for $1,500-$1,650.

Consisting of over 10,000 acres, the southeast Valley park is a fine example of the lower Sonoran Desert. The park ranges in elevation from about 1,400 feet to over 2,500 feet. Goldmine Mountain is located in the northern area, with a spectacular San Tan Mountain escarpment in the southern portion of the park. The vegetation changes from creosote flats to dense saguaro forest. Various types of wildlife may be observed, including reptiles, birds, and mammals. Amenities are slated for future development.
Don’t forget to stop by the Visitor’s Center to pick up educational tidbits, purchase souvenir items, visit with park staff, and see the wildlife exhibits or tortoise habitat. Restroom facilities are available and additional amenities are slated for future development.
