Where We Play: Gilbert

0
where we playWe love living in Gilbert, there is so much to do and so many places to play! With free outdoor activities put on by the city and plenty of parks- it’s the perfect place for our outdoor-loving family.

With three kids ages 2-9, sometimes it is hard to keep them all entertained! Especially all together! Here are our favorite places to play, eat, and explore in Gilbert, Arizona!

Favorite park: Gilbert regional park! They are ADA accessible, have a great fishing lake and there are so many cool play structures for a variety of ages. Added bonus when it gets warm out- there is a splash pad!

Favorite neighborhood restaurant: In our family, we like to keep it fresh and switch up our bi-monthly restaurant night. This month we are trying out Starz American bar and grill, and Ghost Ranch: Modern Southwest Cuisine

I also love Isabel’s Amor for a Mom’s Night Out with friends!

Favorite thing about your area for your family: There are a lot of local, free activities hosted by Gilbert Parks & Rec. We just joined Amy and Mav at last week’s concert under the water tower for a lunchtime event and it was lovely, not crowded and we ended at Topo for ice cream cones afterwards.

Pro tip: a lot of Gilbert Parks & Rec events fill up reservations quickly and they aren’t publicized too much, so be sure to follow the town’s event calendar.

Favorite play place: The Musik Box in Gilbert has been on our radar for a while–they have more than just music classes, they just launched sensory play classes twice a month, and art classes twice a month, too, and offer Dr. Becky Bailey’s Conscious Discipline 10-week course a few times a year.

I like that they have parent/child classes for younger kids and drop-off classes for my older two’s ages.

Favorite free/nearly free activity: City of Gilbert hosts a family night throughout the month,  and offers tons of free movies to watch out at the park. I love getting the family out to enjoy a movie when the weather is nice!

Be sure to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs, and lots of snacks for the kiddos!

Favorite neighborhood class: We absolutely love Swimhaus Swim School for our Swim lessons! They have super cute play houses indoors to keep kids entertained if you have to wait at all, and they are AMAZING at teaching swim. They are so patient and understanding with all of the kiddos (and mamas too when we need a helping hand!). Swimhaus will even go out of their way to help you entertain of load up the kids!
