What We’re Excited for in March…

We’re continuing our What We’re Excited About series, where each month we will share what we’re looking forward to for the month. Keeping it local, real and giving you, our readers, a chance to get to know us a little better.

  • What I’m buying for me: A New Sectional, I know that sounds like a “house” purchase, but it’s totally for me, as its been at the top of my personal “to buy” list that keeps getting knocked around. After months of going back and forth on what style, where from, and how big do I really want, I’ll finally pull the trigger on the perfect Sectional for our smaller space living room from living spaces.
  • What I’m buying for the kids: For the littlest one I am buying her a balance bike, I never got one with my older two, but I’ve always heard how beneficial they are. So now she gets one and will hopefully work on keeping up with the older kids. It’s also about the time we start keeping an eye out on Easter gear. It’s a big deal in our house and a lot of planning goes into Easter outfits.
  • What I’m reading: This month I am diving head first into the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn. As we know the books are always 10x better than the movies, so I can wait to get engrossed in another time, and follow the steamy journey of the Bridgerton Clan.
  • What’s on my calendar: what isn’t on my calendar for March, we have birthday parties and starting up dance class for my 5year old daughter. My 8yo son will also be embarking on his new journey in Ju Jitsu at BJJ Roots in Mesa.
  • Where I’m taking my kids: Dance and Ju jitsu lessons! Also, we try to make it a monthly goal to have an adventure. So this month we will heading to California to visit friends and family this month (proper covid precautions).

  • What I’m buying for me: Skincare Splurge! I’m buying the Lotus Cleansing Balm by Beautycounter. It is so helpful for hydration and healing, which is great because I’ve been so dry and dehydrated through this pregnancy and the winter! I needed something to really give me that hydration and glow. This is truly a panacea product. It can be used as a cleanser/makeup remover as well as a deeply overnight hydrating mask, plus an acne treatment, or used for cracked skin, burns, eczema and more. It’s also been great for stretch mark prevention on my growing belly and we use it on my toddler’s dry skin, too! The best part? All Beautycounter products are pregnancy and breastfeeding safe, so no worries there.

P.S. I happen to be a Beautycounter consultant, so you can reach out to me with questions or to shop!
  • What I’m buying for the kids: Baby Gear that I didn’t have with my first: a dock-a-tot, Babybjorn bouncer, and a Lovevery play kit subscription. I borrowed a dock-a-tot with my first, but had to give it back and it was SO helpful for creating a safe sleep space in our room during the times when I needed baby out of the bed so I could stretch out. And the Lovevery play kit subscription! Have you heard of this? You can get a new set of organic, sustainable Montessori-based toys in the mail every 2-3 months, made specifically for your child’s developmental age. And for my toddler – more bikes! He LOVES bikes and cars!
  • What I’m reading: Currently reading Conviction by Denise Mina. I never know what to read next when I finish a book, so over the last year or so I’ve been picking from Reese Witherspoon’s choices for her book club. This one is a real page turner about a mysterious murder. Of course, with a twist! Highly recommend any of the books on her list! They are always page turners.
  • What’s on my calendar: High Tea at the Phoenician with a girlfriend! The Phoenician Resort serves a traditional High Tea with all the fixings. I’ve never been, but have always wanted to do a High Tea, so turned it into a ladies date before baby’s arrival.
  • Where I’m taking my kids: We took my son out of all of his classes at the beginning of last March when COVID hit. He’s been out of music, gym and swim for nearly a year and recently we decided it’s time to get him back in. He needs the socialization, the opportunity to get out of the house more and also with a baby comings soon, we need things for him to do! We love Hubbard Swim School in Mesa, The Little Gym of Gilbert and Musicology location in Chandler.

  • What I’m buying for me: I have been looking for a dress for pictures and an upcoming wedding. Being a newly postpartum mama who is also nursing, it is a little difficult to find a dress that is both flattering and functional. However, after searching high and low and visiting multiple stores with a toddler and a baby, I found the perfect dress…on Amazon! I love the lace detail in the sleeve, and the ease of functionality for a nursing mama. I highly recommend, and with Amazon Prime I got free two day shipping!
  • What I’m buying for the kids: My four month old has started teething, and this month he gets new teething toys! We have also started reading to him out loud, and he got a new book too, Little Prince Little Prince What Will You Be? by Naomi Zacharias. For our four year old, we are gearing up for summer. Every year (with the exception of last year, thanks to Covid) we do swim lessons through Mesa Parks and Recreation. We will be browsing the events calendar and reviewing registration dates for this summer’s swim! Their activity guide can be found here.
  • What I’m reading: I am currently reading The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. This is a true story of triumph and faith.
Side note: It’s always been a dream of mine to start or be part of a book club! I’m open if there are any interested takers!
  • What’s on my calendar: St. Patrick’s Day is this month, which also marks the fifth year anniversary of meeting my husband! We love celebrating all holidays (mostly me) and St. Patricks Day is no different! I especially look forward to the corned beef and cabbage every year!
  • Where I’m taking my kids: We are going to re-visit Greenfield Park this month, thanks to East Valley Moms! We had never been there before our recent park date with EVM, but we LOVED it! It has wood chips, bathrooms close by, plenty of things for kids to do and an awesome exercise trail for mama!
