What is the lodging like at Backland?
There are 10 glamping tents which sleep 4-6 people with a king-size bed, queen sofa bed, private bathroom and a floor to ceiling patio doors showcasing incredible forest views. The beds were the most comfortable “hotel mattresses” we’ve slept on for a long time–so cozy!
Each tent is temperature controlled with air conditioning and heating, plus a few kitchen amenities to make basic meals (microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker).
There’s also a clubhouse that boasts fire pits, comfortable couches and gathering spaces for board games, etc., plus an on-site restaurant that serves from-scratch dinners and a complimentary breakfast daily.
What makes Backland kid-friendly?
Backland offers all-inclusive outdoor activities for families to enjoy during their stays including fishing gear, kayaks, binoculars, telescopes for stargazing, a pond, boundless forest to explore on nature walks and more.
Inside the club house, kids will find arts and craft supplies, endless games (we found some new-to-us favorites to play!), puzzles and more activities.
For families, having all the amenities prepped and ready to go made the experience enjoyable not only for the kids, but parents as well. The kayaks and life jackets are waiting at the pond to quickly jump into; the fishing poles already have bait and bobbers waiting. As a family that loves the outdoors already, having all the prep work done made this so much easier to jump from one activity to another without the long intermission of set-up.
Is Backland camping or a hotel?
Backland calls itself “glamping” or glamorous camping.
For families who camp, this is the ultimate luxury form of camping that’s a fun treat from typical dry camping. Parents can relax a bit more without having to set-up camp, but all the best parts about being in untouched wilderness are still here.
For not-so-outdoorsy families, this is a fun alternative to camping that you’ll love: comfy beds, plumbing, customer service, yet you’ll get a forest experience for your kids to play in a pond, explore nature trails and star gaze without sacrificing the comforts of a hotel room.
Backland has truly mixed the best of both worlds of a hotel + camping experience to make this stay one-of-a-kind and the ultimate memory making experience for families.
Dining at Backland
Complimentary breakfast (featuring crepes + a generous continental breakfast spread) and evening s’mores are included for guests.
Box lunches ($15 for adults, $12 for kids) are available to pre-order from the restaurant, or the tents have a mini fridge if you pack your own lunch fixings.
The onsite restaurant features all from-scratch cooking. Main entrees range from $17 – $46 dollars for adults with children’s options starting at $12. Beer, wine and cocktails are also available.
There’s a grill on site at the clubhouse for guests to use as well, if you’d like to pack your own grill pack.
