The Best Local Moms Groups on Facebook You Need to Join

1

facebook groupsIs Facebook cool anymore? Is it cheugy? On fleek? Do the kids still say that? Regardless of Facebook’s hip factor, it is still a wealth of information and resources, especially for moms.

Facebook hosts tons (no, literally, like thousands) of groups where people with something in common can come together to help and support one another. There are usually moderators or administrators in the group who ensure that the content posted is relevant to the group’s audience and keeps the space free of spam.

You typically have to request to join these groups and answer some basic questions to ensure that you fit the geographic or demographic requirements of the members. But once you’ve been accepted, you can take advantage of all the content and resources available to that group.

Here’s a very small sampling of some of the ones that I find most helpful in my East Valley motherhood journey.

Community/Event Groups

The East Valley is big and sometimes you just want to know what’s going on right in your own vicinity. Most local cities and neighborhood areas have a Facebook group where they post community events and news.facebook group

Buy/Sell/Buy Nothing Groups

I personally try to get most kids’ gear/big toys/clothes second hand because these items can be expensive and children grow out of or lose interest in this stuff so quickly. The East Valley has a ton of Buy/Sell groups.

But my favorites are the Buy Nothing groups where items are literally given away for free. Buy Nothing is an international movement with a beautiful philosophy of generosity and community.

Breastfeeding/Pumping Groups

There are tons of breastfeeding resources available locally and otherwise, but add these groups to your toolbox, as well.

Special Interest/Medical Needs Groups

From camping and homeschooling, to foster/adoption and other medical or special needs, there’s a local Facebook group for just about everything you could need.

** = Not East Valley-specific but still super helpful

This list of groups is definitely not exhaustive as there are so many out there. Did we forget your favorite? Tell us about it in the comments, we’re always looking for other amazing resources!
