Sober St. Patrick’s Day

Whether you live a sober lifestyle, or don’t want to head into work with a huge hangover – avoiding alcohol on a holiday can be difficult. Here are some ideas to help have the best sober St. Patricks Day yet!

1. Designated Drive: One of the easiest is to assign yourself to being the designated driver. If you’re going to a party or a bar with friends who like to drink, offer to drive them around. It’s a perfect excuse for you not to consume alcohol.

2. Stay in: Growing up I LOVED making leprechaun traps with my parents the night before St. Patty’s Day and then collecting gold chocolate coins the next day. Keep busy with the kids by playing games; or even create green desserts like pistachio muffins or green Jello.

3. Host: Offer to host a Sober St. Patty’s Day Party. Feeling Irish? Cook up some corned beef and cabbage, or Shepherd’s pie. Offer soda, coffee, and tea, instead of alcoholic beverages. Bust out the card and board games for a little friendly competition and to pass the time.

4. Attend Events: Attend Phoenix’s St. Patricks’ Day Parade & Faire! Known as “The Greenest Day in the Desert”, the 2019 parade is held the day before St. Patrick’s Day – on the 16th. Children 12 and under are free, and a great reason to get out of the house and be able to celebrate.

5. See A Movie: Hit the movie theaters up. Take family, friends, or just the kids to see a movie! Considering most people will be out and about, the movie theaters could be less busy!

Keep in mind it’s totally possible to still have fun without green beer or any alcohol!
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
