My name is Stacy J and I am the Owner/Artistic Director of an innovative and creative dance movement in today’s society.  My basic concept at Stacy J Dancing:  If people want the opportunity to dance, they should be granted that opportunity.  There is no hidden agenda, no ulterior motive, no millions of dollars in deceptive fees…just honest and sincere professional performance art training.

Primarily, for me, going into this extracurricular activity, long ago when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, there were no dance reality tv programs, competitions were not a standard, studio to studio politics were never an issue… I danced because it made me a better person. The effect dance has upon children in their development is priceless in so many ways.

Let’s discuss the given elements:  Balance, motor skills, flexibility posture, conditioning, stamina, endurance, strength, coordination, thought processing, ECT.  These things are what seems to be a standard in performance art education at ANY age.  But these are NOT the reasons dance made me a better person.

Dance made me a better person because it helped me to strongly develop my self-confidence.  I was a shy little, frail girl who could become bigger than life with the persona of a lioness in dance class.

Dance made me a better person because I was able to loose myself within the art form.  Taking class was my happy place, my peace, and meditation.  Nothing could interfere with my thought process if I was dancing.

Dance made me a better person because I learned that only I could have the ability to improve.  Meaning, there was no easy road.  If I wanted to get better, I alone had to work harder and dedicate myself to achieve that goal.

Dance made me a better person because I socially was able to adapt to all walks of life.  There was no judgement upon others.  Everyone had something to offer to enhance my education.  I am talking about teachers AS WELL as other students.  It did not matter where they lived, what nationality they were, how young or old, none of that mattered.  What mattered was we were all on the same dance journey, together.

Let’s face it…not every child will become a prima ballerina.  Not every child will be featured on “So You Think You Can Dance”.  Not every child will pursue dance as an adult.  However the ramifications and benefits from being exposed to this art form are way beyond my words in this article. I hope you consider enrolling your child into a dance program at some point during their lives, even if that enrollment is for a brief period of time.  I am convinced that this exposure could make ALL of us better people.

“Stacy J Dancing is more than just dance classes. It is a movement on focusing on the love of the arts, experiences in life, and a passion for a positive effect on children and their entire families. Community programs DO work when the community support is readily available.”
