Trails are accessible from 48th St. & Guadalupe and Desert Foothills Parkway & 6th St. Picnic areas and ramadas are vehicle accessible from the other side of the South Mountains at 10919 S. Central Ave.

South Mountain became a City of Phoenix park in 1924. Many citizens including Carl Hayden bought 13,000 acres from the Federal Government for $17,000. In 1935 the National Park Service developed a master plan for the park that included riding and hiking trails, picnic areas and overlooks.
The highest point on South Mountain is Mount Suppoa which reaches 2,690 feet. It is not accessible to the public. Dobbin Lookout which is 2,330 feet high is the highest point accessible by trail.

Sea Life Arizona features a 161,000-gallon ocean-view tank with an underwater tunnel. This aquarium targets kids 12 and younger with eye-level views of sea turtles, sharks, cownose stingrays, jellyfish, clownfish, angel fish and more. They offer birthday packages for ages 4-12 that include a host, decorated party room, admission for 15-20 guests and goody bags. The birthday boy/girl also gets an annual pass to the aquarium.
