Stroller breakfasts are exactly what they sound like: feed your baby/tot breakfast in their stroller as mom gets her walk/run in first thing in the morning. In the summer, that looks like smoothies for kids a lot of mornings.
We have done stroller breakfasts since my son could hold his own bottle, and for the warmer summer months, smoothies are one of my go-to breakfasts for him: sneaks in fiber and hydration in a form he likes (and it easy in the stroller).
Read on for two different smoothie ideas for tots.

Yogurt berry smoothie for kids
From Amy: I love this smoothie for my son because it sneaks in protein (from the yogurt) and fiber and hydration (from the berries and water).
Add the following to your blender:
- 1/2 cup frozen berries
- tiny handful of frozen spinach (just enough to sneak it in without my toddler noticing)
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (not honey yogurt, not plain yogurt; my son only will have this with vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup water
- Blend and serve
Green smoothie for moms and tots
Contributor Kari: This smoothie recipe has been my go-to for the past few years. It’s loaded with spinach but that doesn’t mean it tastes like you’re drinking vegetables.
That’s not the case at all. The sweetness from the fruit overrides the spinach. Spinach is a pretty mild tasting green so it’s a great one to start with when you first try making green smoothies.
Add the following to your blender:
- 2 cups spinach
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup frozen mango
- For moms only: one scoop of protein powder
TIP #1: I always blend my spinach and water for about 30 seconds before adding the remaining ingredients. This will help break down the spinach so you don’t have any leafy chunks in your smoothie.
TIP #2: Cut your banana into chunks, place in snack size zip lock bag and put in freezer.
